FINANCE OFFICER, RETIRES

SEATTLE, (A)—Lt. Col. John J. S. Sullivan retired from the Army Monday after 20 years service, the last five as finance and accounting officer for the Army's Alaska Communications System.

In a ceremony at the ACS headquarters here, Col. Sullivan was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his simplification of his branch's work procedures here and in Alaska.

Col. Sullivan entered the Army as an enlisted man Sept. 16, 1940, and was commissioned a second lieutenant Nov. 5, 1942. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 14, 1957.
