A Frenchman, Captain of a piratical freebooter, was lodged in the gaol of this city, a few days ago, by an American captain of this place, who had been captured by him, his vessel sent into a West-India port and condemned, and who fortunately found means to get back to his native country, after some time.—But the very day he arrived in this port, what was his astonishment to meet the same Frenchman who had plundered him of his vessel and cargo, and who had the impudence to make him a low bow. The American asked him how he dared to shew his face in a country whose citizens he had plundered. The Frenchman said, Heh, that is nothing. The other had him immediately lodged in jail, to shew him whether it was nothing or not.
