Taxi Drivers to Hold Meet Sept. 14
The Taxi Drivers Section of the Transportation Workers. Industrial League is calling a mass meeting on Monday. September 14. at New Harlem Casino, 116th St. end Lenox Ave. at 8 p.m., to protest against the cold-blooded murder of Hasse by police officer Pat Edward Morrel.
A thorough investigation on the recent killing of Robert Hasse proved conclusively that Hasse was no gangster. nor did he have any connections with the underworld whatever. He was murdered in cold blood by police bullets. There are numerous witnesses who saw Hasse stick his hands above his head and surrender to the cops. But in spite of the fact that he raised his hands the policeman, Edward Morrel, shot and killed him. Every witness that was called made positive statements to the fact that they saw the police search Hasse, and no gun was found.
Taxicab Driver's Life
What is the truth. is a man who works 12 hours or more a day for a miserable starving wage a gangster?
In view of the above findings the Transportation Workers Industrial League is calling a mass protest meeting. The league recognized that only through organization and mass action can the name of Hasse be cleared. Not only that. but in the future the police will not shoot down a worker and then label him gangster.
