Full Text

Extract of a Letter from Boston, December 2.

"We have had a very large Meeting of the Body of the People of this Town, and were joined by Committees of several of the near Towns, and in said Meeting passed a Number of Votes relative to the Tea and Consignees. The Consignees have all betook themselves to Castle William, in Imitation, I suppose, of our worthy Board of Commissioners heretofore. This will furnish a fine Occasion to make a Representation on the other Side of the Water. When Captain Hall comes to clear out at the Customhouse, which he promises shall be in twenty Days, will be the turning Period. It is much doubted whether he will obtain a Clearance to pass our Castle, as that is signed by our Governour. From the Temper that has appeared among the People, if the Tea is not permitted to go back, I think Nothing would tempt me to stand in the Place of the Consignees."
