Full Text

From London Papers.

Dr. Denon's magnificent Book of Egypt, has excited considerable attention in London. A complete edition by Mr. Aikin will appear in a few days, accompanied by upwards of one hundred large and interesting facsimiles of the originals; but such is the public curiosity, that, to satisfy it, an abridgment in two Octavo volumes is offered for sale, with only eleven Plates, and those of a reduction. As M. Denon travelled as an artist, his text chiefly consists of descriptions of the Prints, it is obvious that a Translation, unaccompanied with his full part of the Plates, is but the shell of his work without the substance.
