Fire Destroys Two PFE Freight Cars On Heber Siding

Investigators Seeking Cause of Blaze in Unused Packing Shed

HEBER, June 9.-Deputy sheriffs and railway investigators Monday sought to determine the origin of a fire which Sunday night destroyed PFE freight cars valued at $8,000 and damaged the old Fawcett packing shed near the railroad right of way in Heber.

The fire started on the loading platform between the shed and the cars. Since Heber has no fire department, volunteers pulled the platform away from the shed and prevented the flames from spreading all over the shed. Two of the railroad cars were destroyed and one partially burned.

Recently the packing shed has been used by Frank Gardiner to house field labor. The shed was said to have been unoccupied at the time the fire was discovered.
