CHARLESTON, (S. C.) March 30.

IMPORTANT

A gentleman of veracity, who arrived on Saturday last, in the southern stage, and who left St. Augustine on the 12th instant, states that a new Governour was daily expected there from Havana, who had authority from the Spanish government, to sell the Province of East-Florida to the Americans, if they were inclined to become purchasers. The reason given for this extraordinary measure, was, the continual state of alarm in which the Province was kept by the Patriots.
