Horrible Accident.

A horrible accident occurred at Wheeling, Mo., by which a most lovely lady met her death.

The lady, Mrs. Mattie McLain, was working with her aunt near a fire in the yard, when the aunt discovered that her niece's dress was on fire. Telling her niece to lie down, the elder lady picked up a bed and tried to smother the flames, but the unfortunate lady ran wildly about the yard, rendering abortive all attempts to aid her.

She at last fell exhausted, all her wearing apparel except her shoes and a portion of her corset being consumed and her flesh burnt to a crisp. She died that evening.
