The Conservative Daily Telegraph said the two satellite launchings had greatly strengthened the power of Nikita Khrushchev, Soviet Communist party chief. "These demonstrations of technological success certainly provide Khrushchev with just that kind of momentum that ambitious rulers formerly found in successful military campaigns," the Telegraph said. Two Parisian newspapers, Figaro and Parisien Libere, suggested the Soviet Union would launch a rocket to the moon on Thursday, the 40th anniversary of the Communist revolution. "Let us note that Nov. 7 is the date of the full moon," Figaro said. An Indian Foreign Ministry official in New Delhi said the high degree of Soviet technology revealed by the new satellite "makes us thinkings on world problems outmoded."
