THE English Newspapers received by the late arrivals, are so barren of information, that no opinion can be formed of the real intentions of the Court of London. Some writer on the Political state of Europe, has told us, that the cessation of hostilities between England and Spain, is not worthy the name of a Peace, but is merely a Truce —and that Mr. Burke, (the independent Mr. Burke) is become a Pensioner. These are mere conjectures—we suppose they are not intended for realities, or they would have been rather better supported.

THE affairs which principally engage the attention of the British Legislature are, Botany-Bay Settlement—Toleration of the Roman Catholics—Contested Elections—The appropriation of the unclaimed Dividends to the reduction of the National Debt—The prosecution of the Impeachment of Warren Hastings—The alteration of the existing laws on Libels—The arrangement of India Affairs—New Canadian Government—Corn Bill, &c.
