CHEYENNE, Wyo., Nov. 11.—Six persons were killed and three badly injured last night when an extra east bound Union Pacific freight collided with an engine and caboose at Borie, 15 miles west of Cheyenne. Thirty cars were piled in a heap and the wreckage took fire.
Engineer Schley, Conductor John Murphy and Fireman Christensen are among the dead.
The freight got beyond control and ran seven miles down a steep grade to Borie, where the collision occurred.
CHEYENNE, Wyo., Nov. 11.—Nine persons are known to have lost their lives in a collision of two Union Pacific freight trains last night at Borie, Wyo., and the fire which broke out of the wreckage. The dead:
J. C. Schley, engineer, Laramie.
John Murphy, conductor, Denver.
Mons. Christensen, fireman, Denver.
J. D. Duncan, brakeman, Laramie.
Brakemen Stitt and Rogers of Cheyenne.
Three Jap laborers.
Only the bodies of Duncan and the Japs were recovered.
The wreckage is still burning and it is feared the other bodies will be cremated. Three trainmen were seriously injured.
The wreck blocked all tracks and traffic was blocked until this morning. The collision was caused by one of the trains getting beyond control and going down a steep hill.
After running seven miles, it crashed into another train.
