Full Text

July 5. It is now proved, that the opponents in America to the despotic measures of administration are not a mere factious party; that none refuse compliance to the regulations of the Congress but a few wretched tools of power, who would, like Esau, sell their birth-right for a mess of pottage.

If the Americans who lately fought in their own defence, in the defence of their chartered liberties, in defence of their undoubted properties, in defence of their wives and their little ones, nay more, in defence of the constitution; if these men were rebels, then every man who joined in the glorious revolution, every man who drew his sword in this kingdom to oppose an arbitrary Stuart, was an arrant rebel.

Opponents in America to the despotic measures of administration are not a mere factious party; none refuse compliance to the regulations of the Congress but a few wretched tools of power. Americans who fought in defense of their chartered liberties, properties, families, and the constitution are not rebels, similar to those who opposed arbitrary Stuart rule in the Glorious Revolution.
