Popular Teacher Goes To Hospital Following Fall In Home Accident
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - (SNS)
A journey of over a thousand miles and the hectic round of events of a great national meeting held no hazards equal to those of home for well-known and prominent school ma'am, Mrs. L. O. Swingler, the former Edna House, instructor at Lester School here.
Mrs. Swingler was taken to hospital late last Friday night following a fall at her home, 284 Fay Avenue. Just returned from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she accompanied her husband, editor of the Memphis World, to the Alpha Fraternity's annual convention, Mrs. Swingler was walking through her living room to answer the telephone, when she slipped and fell. Her ankle was sprained. It was at first thought that she had fractured her leg. At Collins Chapel Hospital X-Rays disclosed no broken bones.
The popular teacher and swimming instructor for the Memphis Park Commission quickly announced her intention to be back at her post at Lester School when the school bells announced the resumption of the current session Monday morning, January 5th. Hospital attendants expressed the belief that she would be able to make it.
