A splendid Dinner was given to Gen. Jackson on Tuesday last at New York, at which the Mayor of the City presided. The following were among the toasts:

Andrew Jackson—The Saviour of the South; while the Mississippi bears her tribute to the ocean, his name and his deeds want no other remembrancer.

The Spartan band of modern story—The volunteers of Kentucky and Tennessee on the ramparts of New Orleans.

The Toast given by Gen. Jackson was in the following words:

Dewitt Clinton, the Governor of the great and patriotic state of New York.
