No More Of Dies' Dye!

We think Democratic leaders in the House employed good
judgment when they recently turned thumbs down on efforts of
Representative-elect Martin Dies of Texas to again get on the
House Un-American Activities Committee. As head of that com-
mittee for seven years, Dies succeeded in thoroughly disgracing
both himself and the committee. Dies was to the Democratic
Party what Senator McCarthy is to the Republican Party today-
His popularity finally hit such a low level he decided to "re-
tire" from Congress, but he came back, unfortunately, in the 1952
election. When Dies left the House committee, it revamped its
rules to put a stop to unwarranted accusation, smears and wanton
slander behind the cowardly cloak of Congressional immunity. The
Summit County Labor News feels that the Democrats in Dies' case,
has set an example which the Republicans should emulate on
McCarthy.
