BETTER THAN TURKEY.
A Rumor of Something Big for the Oxford Orphans Thursday.

While it is something of a secret, and The Globe has no desire to raise expectations about which there might be any possibility of disappointment, it comes to us today in a way that we consider reliable, that some of our noble-hearted and generous citizens are preparing to remember the Oxford orphans in a way quite in keeping with their reputation for open handed liberality, and as will bring joy to the hearts of every one connected with the institution.

Just what these contributions will be and the amount of same is not yet known. Yet the names of the gentlemen heading the movement suggest something substantial, and people who think a minute will find little difficulty in guessing who these gentlemen are.

No institution in the country is more deserving of help than the Oxford Orphan Asylum and The Globe is pleased to know that such a movement is on foot.

There is no denying the fact that Durham folk, with a few notable exceptions, are hum mers with a contribution box.
