An Officer Winged.

New Richmond, Wis., Aug. 11. - Between 4 and 5 o'clock a. m. a desperate attempt at burglary was made here. During the early morning two professional crooks forced an entrance to Tode's store and made an unsuccessful attempt to blow open the safe. Their charge of dynamite was too small. Then they sacked a large quantity of silverware and were making off when officer Waltenberg ordered them to halt. They immediately opened fire upon him, one shot taking effect in his arm. They were pursued but escaped, after dropping their booty.
