From Vera Cruz.--By the arrival at New York of the schr. Splendid, Capt. Clark, in 27 days from Vera Cruz, we learn, that the Spanish expedition, five days after landing their troops, 1,600 in number, marched into Tampico and took possession of it without much difficulty. The Mexicans had only 400 men to guard the place. Gen. St. Anna with a force of fifteen hundred well appointed troops left Vera Cruz, two or three days before Capt. Clark sailed, for Tampico, and the next accounts from that quarter, will probably furnish us with the details of a desperate struggle to regain the place and plant the Republican standard once more within the city. Commodore Porter was under arrest at Mexico.
