Full Text

James Hezitt, of Pennsylvania, was tried at the Old Bailey, in England, on the 5th October, and sentenced to twelve months imprisonment, and to pay 500 pounds sterling fine, for seducing a mechanic to come to this country—that is, for telling an acquaintance that he could live easier, cheaper and better in America than in England. The mechanic, on his part, had given bond and surety not to leave the country. The government of Great Britain appears to be closely imitating the Egyptian government of old—starving and oppressing the people at home, and refusing to let them go to the land "flowing with milk and honey."
