The Executive Board of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, held its annual meeting at the National Headquarters of the sorority, 1814 M Street, N. W., Washington, D. C. In session for one week, the Executive Board reviewed the sorority's program and established a budget for the coming year. The first annual report of the Executive Director, Patricia Roberts, described the operations of the newly established Executive Offices for the past seven months, and presented a resume of the outstanding May Week activities which were held in Washington in conjunction with the dedication of the National Headquarters.
The Executive Board also met with representatives of agencies with which Delta has cooperative relationship. Mrs. Naomah Maise, Executive Director of the National Council of Negro Women, discussed with the sorority officers ways in which Delta Sigma Theta, as an NCNW national affiliate, can provide leadership in the movement of women for a better world. Miss Ann Tanneyhill of the National Urban League, discussed in detail the projects which the NUL and Delta are presenting jointly.
James C. Evans, Civilian Assistant to the Secretary of Defense, appeared before Executive Board to urge their assistance in bringing before young women the opportunities available in the armed services. He also pointed out the fact that voluntary associations, particularly women's groups, have the grave responsibility for helping returning military personnel adjust to civilian life. Elmer W. Henderson appearing on behalf of the American Council on Human Rights, of which he is Director, presented a digest of the activities of ACHR since Cleveland Joint Convention of the six ACHR affiliates.
Dorothy I. Height, National President of Delta Sigma Theta, presided over the sessions of the Executive Board. Also present were Mrs. Reber S. Hamilton, Chicago, Ill., Midwest Regional Director; Miss M.
