GOLD.—There has been a little excitement in the upper part of Meriwether, in consequence of late discoveries in gold digging. Two or three years since, gold was discovered in the 11th District—the mine not being sufficiently rich to give profitable employment, they were abandoned; but lately having been again worked, new discoveries have been made and fine wages, we learn are now being made. The result is, that all who have land in the neighborhood have the fever and are in hopes that they will find gold mines—Columbus Times.
