Party Heads to be Prosser Men: Republicans Select E. O. Rice. Democrats, McNeill to Begin Campaigns
Party control of the county passed from the east to the west end of the county as the result of the meetings of the republicans and democratic precinct committeemen last Saturday. The republicans met at Kennewick and the Democrats at Prosser. E. O. Rice, Prosser, was made chairman of the Benton county republican central committee, succeeding C. A. Crawford of Kennewick. Alex McNeill, Prosser, will head the democratic party for the county, succeeding J. D. VanFossen of Richland. After twenty years of service in the office, C. L. Holcomb, Kennewick, declined the nomination as state committeeman for the democrats and Lewis Sloan of Richland was elected for the position. M. M. Moulton, Kennewick, was elected in a similar capacity for the republicans, succeeding Andrew Brown of Prosser. Mrs. Ruth Heniken will serve as state committeewoman for the republicans and Mrs. Robert Hanson of Richland for the democrats. The democrats selected Mrs. Mahoney, Prosser, vice chairwoman, and F. R. White, vice chairman; A. E. Griner, Hanford, secretary and Paul Peugh, Prosser, corresponding secretary. George Chase of White Bluffs was elected treasurer. Roy Washburn was appointed precinct committeeman for Kennewick South precinct and J. B. Slaughenhaupt to fill the vacancy in Kennewick Gardens caused by the resignation of C. G. Robertson, who was elected. Other local precinct committeemen for the democrats are Ole Brue, first ward, Kennewick; H. H. Flesher, second ward; C. L. Holcomb, third; Scott Williams, Valley; R. H. Perkins, Finley; Sloan, Richland and C. G. Gehres, Horn Rapids. R. E. Gay, Prosser, was elected secretary-treasurer for the republican committee at the meeting here Saturday.
