Full Text

Extract of a letter received by a merchant of this city, from a correspondent at Bermuda, dated the 1st of April

"I hope before this, you have received the pleasing intelligence of the great alteration that is at last going to take place in Bermuda, with regard to the indiscriminate condemnation of all American vessels from French ports, the Judge having at last determined not to condemn, but to pass interlocatory decrees on them all, which implies the claimants are to have the property, and depart with it, on giving security to the Court, for the appraised value. This I sincerely hope, will tend to conciliate and calm the minds of the people of America, who have had very great reason to be aggravated by these piratical depredations."
