London Letter.
I doubt if Solomon ever saw anything so gorgeous as this collection at Bethnal Green. Fancy a whole large glass case full of gold and silver gems,-all ablaze with diamonds! Just imagine a bedstead whose coverlets, pillows and curtains are made of India shawls of the finest texture ever turned out from the looms of Cashmere! Conjure up a dressing gown composed of the plumage of the backs of millions of gorgeous-hued humming-birds. See for yourself a palanquin of tortoise-shell, inlaid with gold, with downy cushions covered with strange stuffs whose woof seems as if it were diamonds, its web rubies and emeralds. One glass case is full of jeweled swords, all of enormous value and great beauty. The handsomest came from Delhi, and with its jeweled hilt, and scabbard, and waist-belt, is valued at $50,000.
