BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Mar. 2—“Lefty Grove” Tiant known throughout America as one of the greatest left-hand flingers in baseball today, has been signed to perform again for Syd Pollock's Cuban House of David club this season and will be seen in action at Tampa, St. Petersburg, Florida where the bewhiskered Islanders open the season on Easter Sunday Monday March 27th or 28th against Jimmy Smith's Florida Stars. Tiant pitched the Cuban House of David to a championship in the Southwestern Iowa Baseball Tournament last year at Council Bluffs, Iowa and was awarded best pitcher medal by Jack Ryan scout of the champion St. Louis Cardinals. Tiant also pitched victories over the famous Homestead and will be seen in action at Tampa, St. Petersburg, Florida.
