Explosion of a Locomotive—One Man Killed and Two Others Severely Injured.
Harrisburg, PA., January 13.—A freight locomotive exploded on the Pennsylvania railroad, one mile from Middletown, this morning. The engineer, Chalkley Daudall, was so badly injured that he died within an hour. The fireman, James Wilson, who was making his first trip, had his leg broken and was severely scalded. Conductor Joseph Lewis, of Downington, sustained severe injuries about the head. The engine is a total wreck. It had been furnished with a new boiler a year ago, and had been out of the repair shops less than a month.
