From the Delaware County Democrat.

THE COLORED OFFICE HUNTER.

Already the colored people, to whom, really, Garfield owes his election, are beginning to demand a share of the offices under his administration. One of them writes to Monday's Chester Times emphatically as follows :

"I would like to inform our friends that we are not going to keep them in offices forever because they accidentally give us our freedom. But for the negro the war would have been a failure. The administration would have long since passed into the hands of the Democratic party; and we propose now to watch our leaders and see that they stick by us in the future as we have stuck by them in the past, and if we are not recognized either by appointment or election to offices, why there will be a change, as there are thousands who are looking for recognition, and see plainly neglected, and leading colored men, at some future time, will demand representation. and if they don't get it from one party they will try another."
