For the GAZETTE of the UNITED STATES.

MR. WAYNE,

I PERCEIVE in yesterday's Aurora, a copy of a letter containing reflections on Mr. Adams, the substance of which was said to be delivered in the presence of Tench Coxe, William Barton, &c. at the house of PETER GORTON, in Lancaster. I am led to believe that the whole is an infamous fabrication, from several circumstances, particularly a well-known one, that no person by the name of Peter Gorton keeps a house of any kind, or is known in Lancaster.
