Full Text
It is hard to understand just exactly what Premier Mussolini expects to gain by breaking off journalistic relations with Great Britain. By placing a ban on the distribution in Italy of all British newspapers except three and by recalling from London all Italian correspondents the Italian Dictator seems to think that he has done something to Great Britain.
In these steps Mussolini has only followed the example of other absolute governments although the effectiveness of his program may be more complete. Certainly, it is plain that Il Duce is anxious to indicate his resentment of the attitude of the English press toward Italy's activity in Ethiopia and Spain. It may be that he will eventually be successful in preventing the Italian people from acquiring any information whatever from the outside world but so far as we can see, this will not hurt anybody except the Italians.
