HOME DEMONSTRATION AGENT ARRIVES
Accomack County Now Numbered Among Counties With Full Extension Service
Miss Marian M. Lawrence, who was recently appointed home demonstration Agent for Accomack County, arrived Monday to take up her duties. The people are looking forward with much interest to the establishing of this new work with the ladies and girls' in the homes and schools.
Miss Lawrence has had several years experience and comes to Accomack very highly recommended. She was born in Radford, Virginia, graduated from Radford High School and then attended Tusculum College in Tennessee. Later she entered East Radford Teachers College and specialized in Home Economics and Home Demonstration work. There she is remembered for her strong devotion to duty and her diligent and excellent work in class.
Miss Lawrence organized and conducted the work in Amelia County for several years, and she developed an outstanding piece of work. An outstanding citizen from Amelia County says, "Every Community in the County felt the benefit of her work. The accomplishments of her Club members, the improvement in sanitation and beautifying of homes, and the general community spirit which has resulted from her activities and magnetic personality are plainly seen throughout Amelia County. She is a most energetic and untiring worker, intensely interested in her work and in people. The good she has done can perhaps be best expressed by stating a few of the outstanding incidents or occasions on which her Clubs, or individual members have had an opportunity to demonstrate the teaching which they had received."
