The Netherlands, now that they have overrun the Indonesian Republic, informed the Security Council the Dutch would halt hostilities in Java at midnight Friday, and a few days later in Sumatra.
The Dutch also said conditionally they would release President Soekarno and members of his cabinet who were arrested when the Dutch started their so-called police action. The U. N. had ordered both actions. The cease fire had been ordered five days ago.
Since then, the Dutch captured the last town of any size in Central Java.
