National Auditing Service

Appointment of a committee of eleven to work out plans for a national auditing program for consumer and producer cooperatives was one of the important actions taken at the 7th annual meeting of the National Society of Cooperative Accountants at Mission House College, Plymouth, Wis., June 25-26.

The committee is to submit its plans to The Cooperative League, National Cooperatives, Inc., National Council of Farm Cooperatives, and other national co-op organizations. It is headed by an executive group of four - E. F. Selvig, Minneapolis; F. K. Wadsworth, Indianapolis; Glenn S. Fox, North Kansas City; and Laurie L. Lehtin, Superior, Wis.

The accountants also voted to accept the accounting terms recommended by the Terminology committee and to appoint a Committee on Economic Affairs whose job would be to consider and recommend action on matters of economic policy, taxation and similar questions.

The meeting marked the first gathering of the chief accountants of the various co-op wholesales and initial action was taken to develop uniform accounting statements.

Mr. Selvig was reelected president of the organization. Others named to the board are Mr. Wadsworth, vice president; Mr. Lehtin, secretary-treasurer, W. O. Riddle, Des Moines, and P. T. Egan, St. Paul.
