IT MAY GIVE TROUBLE TO FRUIT GROWERS IN TEXAS.
Peaches and Plums Threatened—Expert in Hatching Eggs With Incubator Proves Successful—Close of the Suart Revival Meetings.
Special to the Sunday Light.
Waco, Tex., April 18.—With the boll weevil attacking his fruit Mr. R. L. Holmes, who lives just about the city limits in East Waco, in the Brazos bottom, feels that the pest may not have been killed in such numbers as has been hoped. Mr. Holmes, who is a reliable citizen, has had his plums ruined by the boll weevil and fears that they will eat up peaches also when the fruit is a little further advanced. The weevils operate by boring a hole right into the plum, which destroys it. A sample of the plums ruined, also of the weevil, shows that the trouble is genuine. No complaint has been heard from others, but it is feared that the same condition is in existence but the attention of fruit growers has not been drawn to it.
