Extract of a letter from Cape-Francois, dated October 15.

"We have had but little news this week from the Camp, but the blacks still insist on their freedom, and keep possession of the plain—I have seen a letter from the black chief to the General in this town, wherein he requests the whites to leave the Cape, and depart for France—He says they may take their gold, jewels, and all that belong to them, but must leave the Cape, for it is the Cape we want, and this is our motto, "Liberty or Death"—for we will die or conquer."
