SUPPLY FIRMS MAY MOVE TO NEW LOCATION

According to current reports in Shelby, oil field equipment houses now located in Kevin will be moved to Shelby before March 1.

In commenting on the proposed move, the Tribune of Shelby says:

"At present there are five supply houses in Kevin—the National Supply company, Marion Supply company, Oil Well Supply company, the Great Northern Tool and Supply company and the Continental Supply company.

Formerly, three stores were maintained in Conrad. the National, Continental and Oil Well, but these houses have been shut down.

It is understood that the houses at Kevin and those at Conrad will be joined and moved to this city.

"Reports have it that the change of location will be made within the next two months, and that the houses will be located along the Great Northern tracks west of the city, just outside of the city limits.

"With the development of a number of fields in northern Montana, it is felt that the Shelby location would be very desirable for firms handling oil well equipment from the standpoint of being a more suitable point for both distribution and the handling of incoming shipments. The Cut Bank field and other possible structures to the west, and several promising areas east along the Hi-Line seem due for a great deal of activity, and equipment could be more easily distributed to these fields from Shelby, it is thought.

"Another reason for the companies planning on this act is that by moving the supply houses from Kevin before March first and locating them on the outskirts of Shelby, several thousand dollars would be saved in taxes, as it would eliminate all but county taxes."
