EDITOR CLARION: In THE CLARION February 26th, is an article headed, "New Orleans and the Gulf Coast," describing a visit paid these places by our Senators and Representatives. The report says the party left New Orleans for the Coast on Sunday morning. The following extract gives, in part, the programme of the day's doings:
"A short stop at Mississippi City, and the train drew up at Biloxi, the end of our journey. Headed by the Pass Christian Brass Band, the party marched up to the hotel, where Dr. Maybin formally extended to their guests the liberties of the town, and welcomed them to their charming "Little City by the Sea." Senator Boyd, on behalf of the Legislature, responded in a short and happy effort, the sentiments of which were voiced by every one present. A short period, in which to exchange greetings, and partake of oysters fresh from their beds, and dinner was announced, and such a dinner as only they of the Gulf Coast can prepare. A dearth of de-
Numerous toasts were proposed and responded to; the one calling forth more enthusiasm than any other was "To the health of Jefferson Davis, Mississippi's best loved and most distinguished citizen."
At 3 P. M., the party left for New Orleans harboring most pleasing recollections of the Gulf Coast."
Mr. Editor, is not the reporter mistaken in saying that all this occurred on Sunday? Surely our law-makers would not so far forget themselves as to thus violate the sanctity of the Sabbath, and defy the Christian sentiment of this great commonwealth. If this is a mistake of the printer pray correct it and remove the stigma that it places upon our Representatives,
