One week from tomorrow the voters of this city will take part in a Democratic primary for the purpose of selecting a Democratic candidate for Congress to represent the Eighth Congressional district, a primary being equivalent to an election.
As the time for the primary approaches the interest becomes more and more pronounced.
Representative Charles C. Carlin, this city, is being opposed by two candidates.
Friends of Mr. Carlin from every part of the district report that his vote will be greater than in previous primaries.
The record of Mr. Carlin in Congress is sufficient to insure him the vote of practically every resident of the city.
His efforts to upbuild Alexandria have had wonderful effect, and today as a result of his labors every house in Alexandria is occupied and hundreds of others, as soon as mechanics can build them, will be occupied and the population of the city greatly increased.
This is due to the untiring efforts of Representative Carlin in securing for this city the plant of the Virginia Shipbuilding Corporation. This corporation has erected an enormous plant on the river front, which is a permanent institution for this city.
