Says Some Voters Confused By
Withdrawal Of Dale Thorp
As Treasurer Nominee
The withdrawal of Dale Thorp
from the race for county treasurer
has given a few Okanogan county
voters the impression that John F
Thorp no longer is seeking election
as county assessor, Mr. Thorp said
Saturday.
John F. Thorp, who was nominated
on the Republican ticket, stated
that he is still actively campaigning
for election as assessor. To clear
up the confusion the following
statement was issued Saturday by
Dale Thorp:
"To the voters of Okanogan county:
"This is written at the request of
John F. Thorp, candidate for the
office of county assessor, to clear
up any confusion caused by my
resignation from the race for county
treasurer. While the writer has
withdrawn as a candidate for treasurer the name of John F. Thorp
will still appear on the ballot as a
candidate for county assessor.
(Signed) Dale Thorp."
John F. Thorp received the highest number of votes cast for an
opposed candidate for Okanogan
county office in the September primaries, and reports that he is receiving wide support over the entire county in his present campaign.
