Every Room Rented—The K. of P. to Meet there To Night.
The new Smith Building on the east side of Market street, between Sixth and Seventh, though not entirely finished, is already rented, from the first floor to the roof. The tenants are as follows:
First floor—upper store, Elliott, Johnson & Co., bankers and brokers. Lower Store, Mrs. Bancroft, stationery and fancy goods.
Second floor—upper room, Union Republican League; lower room, Young Men's Republican Club. These rooms are each twenty feet wide, and extend the entire depth of the building.
Third floor—north of the hallway, front room, reading, smoking and library apartment for the Knights of Pythias; back room, studio of H. L. Tatnall, artist. South of the hallway is one large room, to be used as an armory by the Uniformed Corps, Knights of Pythias.
Both rooms on the fourth floor have been leased by the Order of Knights of Pythias, and the south room has already been fitted up with a handsome new carpet and complete lodge furnishings. Washington Lodge, No. 1, will meet in this room to-night, Lincoln Lodge, Tuesday. Champion Lodge, Wednesday, Clayton Lodge, Thursday Excelsior Lodge, Friday, and Lafayette Lodge on Saturday night. The upper room is also being fitted up for lodge purposes, and will be used by Oriental Lodge, now meeting in the McClary building, a German Lodge soon to be instituted, and for special purposes.
The Knights of Pythias are delighted with their new quarters, and will fit them up in the most handsome and comfortable manner.
The building is well constructed, with wide, easy stairways, all the rooms being very accessible. It is an ornament to Market street, and a valuable addition to the public buildings of the city.
