FASTER MAIL SERVICE TO SEVEN TROUGHS DISTRICT

Stanley A. McIntosh, the well known jeweler has been granted the mail contract, beginning July 1st, for carrying the mail between Lovelock and Seven Troughs at a rate of $3440.00 or $800.00 per year more than the old contract. Mr. McIntosh will put into the service his Schacht automobile, and will give a much faster service than has been made by the stage. The mail will leave Lovelock at 6 o'clock in the morning, and returning will leave Seven Troughs at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. This will give Seven Troughs people a chance to answer incoming mail on the same day as received.

It is planned to equip the automobile to carry two passengers, and the passenger rates will probably be $6.00 each way.

Possibly the government officials were persuaded in Mr. McIntosh's favor in letting the mail contract by the phenomenal run from the district to town that he made in the Schacht Automobile a little over a year ago. It will be remembered that Mr. McIntosh at that time associated with W. B. Joslyn as state agents for the Schacht automobile, wagered that the machine could make the trip from Seven Troughs to Lovelock in an hour and thirty seven minutes, and substantial bets were made on the proposition. Mr. McIntosh made the trip in an hour and twenty-five minutes, and the race aroused great interest both here and in the district. Although the Government officials may not have figured that some time such a terrific speed as this might be required, still the people here are glad to know that the mail contract is in the hands of a man who can go like H-- if necessary.
