He Is Elected by a Majority of Five Hundred and Fifty-seven.

WARD FOUR ELECTS REPUBLICAN WARD TICKET.
It Was a Lively Fight Yesterday—Considerable Cutting on Both Sides—
Ward Five Went to Winslow by a Few Votes.

It is Mayor Randall this morning and he is to be congratulated on his victory. It was a lively contest yesterday and there was considerable splitting of tickets on both sides, but at the close of the polls a total vote of 6,673 had been polled and Mr. Randall emerged from the contest a winner by the good majority of about 557. Mr. Randall last night was congratulated by many of his friends.

The day in the early morning, at the opening of the polls, was bright and cold, but as the day advanced the mercury rose in the tube, the heavens clouded, and the afternoon was raw with heavy snow squalls. This latter condition of the weather may have deterred some from getting in their votes. The voting as is usual under the Australian system proceeded quietly, but the interest was intense, and before the polls had hardly closed there was a constant ringing of telephone bells to get at the result. It is to the credit of the ballot clerks, and the wardens and assistants, that the vote, notwithstanding the great number of split tickets, was all in at the city clerk's office by nine o'clock. We give below the vote in detail:

VOTE FOR MAYOR.
Randall. 4049
Winslow. 3692
Crandall. 14
East 8

Mr. Randall's majority, without including Island Ward No. 1, from which no return has yet been received, is 357.
