The first dinner report meeting of the Red Cross Campaign division, headed by J. P. Whittaker, chairman, and T. M. Alexander, co-chairman, was held at the YWCA on Friday, March 20.
Principal speaker of the evening was W. L. Calloway who congratulated the more than 50 workers present on their activity and urged them to renew their efforts to bring the campaign to a successful close on March 27.
Blazing-red carnations were awarded to: Mrs. Edith Reed and Mrs. Hattie Robie, northeast section, the co-chairman reporting the largest amount of money; Mrs. F. E. McLendon and Mrs. P. Q. Yancey, northwest co-chairmen, for having the largest number of workers present; Mrs. Sarah Lewis and Mrs. Mamie Lee Kennon, both of the northeast section, for individually reporting the largest amounts.
Mrs. S. F. Crank, co-ordinating the Red Cross effort, urged that all contributions be reported in view of the Friday closing of the campaign. She can be located at the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA, CYpress 5256.
