A committee of the Corporation of New-York, on the subject of revenue, &c. have reported in favour of an application to the legislature for authority to raise a revenue for the support of foreign poor, by levying a tax upon all descriptions of pleasure carriages kept in the city, not exceeding in amount the law of the U. States.
Also, for the same purpose, by levying a duty of one per cent; upon all sales by auction.
Also authority to license all persons following the business of stock, exchange, or money brokers and to fix the amount to be paid for such licenses.
