ARE WE GOING NUDIST

An article in the daily press reporting a meeting of nudists back east appended the remark that nudism seemed to be gaining adherents, apparently among the younger generation. We'll say it is.

Proof of this statement can be seen on the streets of Libby almost any day -and especially during the period of hot weather. Young girls-and some girls not so young-could be seen most any day in a marked degree of nudity. Nudity to such an extent that not much was left to the imagination.

It calls to mind another item recounting an instance of a young woman appearing at a church service in the East clad only in slacks and a halter. The priest had courage enough to inform her that he believed in women dressing coolly but that she was carrying it too far, and that she would have to go home and dress more befitting

the occasion if she wished to attend services there.

This fad among women manifests itself in many ways. It is getting so few women will appear in any athletic contest unless they are clothed in as little as the law will allow. They maintain they must have freedom of movement and therefore must wear slacks.

Isn't it comical! In tennis the men will wear long white trousers, and so encumbered (?) will defeat any woman, who simply must wear slacks. The same thing applies to any athletic event. The other day there was a press picture of a girl playing baseball and of course she was semi-naked. The men, on the other hand, could play championship baseball in their usual uniforms of knee-length trousers and regulation shirts.

However, not long ago there was one prominent woman athlete honest enough to admit the truth. She said the women dressed that way because they were more attractive in that attire or rather, lack of attire. And that explains the whole matter. A youngster running around semi-nude may do it for reasons of comfort, but there is a strong suspicion in many minds that the average young girl or adult woman who thus displays her charms does so because she wishes to draw attention to the attractiveness of "the female form divine."
