THE enclosed animadversions on a publication under the Signature of Gracchus, which appeared in the General Advertiser on Monday the 10th inst. were sent to the Editor of that paper yesterday for publication—He has since returned the manuscript—with a declaration that the reflections on the French Minister, are inadmissible ! !—It is in vain that Mr. Bache should pretend, that it is proper to avoid reflections on a person, who, he says, is not accountable to the American people; for if that person intrudes himself into American politics, and by himself, or his creatures attempts to impose on the public mind in the Newspapers, no good reason can be assigned why his conduct should escape censure.

Main Argument
the general advertiser improperly refused to publish criticisms of 'gracchus's' publication for its reflections on the french minister; such intrusions into american politics by foreign figures warrant public censure regardless of accountability to americans.
