INTEREST INCREASES IN
WEST HICKORY MEETING
West Hickory, Aug. 2.--There is a
great interest being taken in the
campmeeting at the church of God
here. At every service day and night
there is a large congregation present
and people continue to come in from
many other towns and sections of the
country to attend and help with the
work. The many able ministers here
from several different states are
preaching fine services. On Monday
afternoon Rev. Mr. Lundy a former
pastor of the church here, preached
a very efficient and impressive sermon from the second chapter of St.
Luke, verse 30 to 34 showing how
God fulfilled his promise to old Simon
and showing that God's promises
were always sure. This sermon has
been highly complimented.
On Monday evening at 7:45 Rev.
Mr. Rankin of Kentucky preached
an unusually good sermon, taking
his text from St. Luke's gospel, 12th
chapter 17-18 verses, showing in a
very forcible way the foolishness of
laying up treasures in this world and
not being rich towards God. The
right thing to do was to seek first
the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things would be
added. This service was greatly appreciated.
The young people's meeting Monday
evening was also good. The entire
work along every line is progressing
fine and is very pleasing to the pastor
and the entire congregation.
