Figure in Black Slips Through Church Crowds and Sets Tenements Afire.
NEW YORK, N. Y.—A tall, pale-faced woman dressed from head to foot in solid black and laboring under the delusion that she had a call to "burn down the world" was caught early yesterday after she had set fire to five tenement houses near St. Columbia Roman Catholic church.
She was identified as Miss Jennie Latimer, a dress pattern maker, of 427 West Twenty-fourth street. After she had been questioned by Fire Marshal Thomas P. Brophy she was sent to Bellevue hospital for observation.
"I had to set the fires," she told the marshal. "I was told to do it, and I've got to burn down everything!"
