Full Text

CUMBERLAND, March 25th, 1834.
Mr. Simons-Sir-It is with surprise and astonishment that I perceive my name made use of as a Delegate, from this town to the County Convention, holden at Providence on the 22d inst. The use of my name for that purpose, was without my knowledge and consent. I was not at the meeting that appointed Delegates, nor did I attend said Convention, but I do totally dissent from the views of those who called it. I am decidedly in favor of the course pursued by the administration of the General Government, and am opposed to the Bank of the United States, and against the restoration of the deposites. I shall support the administration of the State and General Government, and hope none of our friends will be deceived by the improper use which the opposition have made of my name.
Yours, &c.
WILLIAM WHIPPLE.
