The different benevolent institutions are actively engaged in exertions to nurse the sick, and relieve the distress resulting to so many from the visitation of the epidemic. Contributions have been sent in from different associations both of the city and abroad. The citizens of Mobile, who some years ago, received assistance in their hour of need from New Orleans, have returned substantial evidence of their gratitude. The ladies at Mississippi City, one of the Gulf watering places have contributed a handsome sum. Those citizens of New Orleans, who have gone north, are taking steps to collect contributions for the same purpose.
