Full Text

When it was lately mentioned in an eastern democratic paper, that Duane had turned a federalist, it was not generally believed, but the Aurora of this morning seems to put the matter beyond doubt, for alluding to the qualifications for elective offices, it is there said, that "The ablest and best men in the community ought to be placed in nomination." If so, Duane well knows, that all democrats must be excluded; and hence the sly mode of recommending none but federalists. It is true; he concludes with something like a bull, for he tells us, that the "course which he considers it to be his duty to the public to pursue in the approaching election, is to stand neutral."
